Today I bought a website from another fella (hmm I don’t usually say fella in real life) for $275. The site in I’m referring to is a small automated ebay affiliate site that sells bonsai trees. It doesn’t get a whole lot of traffic, and I probably could of put the site together myself in mere minutes..so why did I pay $275 for it? Simple..the site is established. The domain has been slightly aged, it has a few back links, it makes $20 or $30 a month, and it ranks for a few terms in the search engines. Sure..I could of done all this myself in just a few weeks time - but time is one thing of mine that’s limited. So..in essence I’m paying $275 in order to save myself nothing but time. Time as they say, is money (I don’t agree with that 100% but I’ll save that for later).

The site I bought is www.BonsaiForSale.com. If you take a look at it you’ll see it’s nothing special..just a simple site with a turnkey ebay script. However, a closer look reveals that the domain can rank for some very good terms with very little work. Now, I have some experience with buying and selling websites in the past and it can be a very lucrative business. Only time will tell whether or not I will resell the bonsai site, but I will be sure to share all my strategies I employ to turn it into a successful site. With any luck it will turn a profit and we’ll both learn from it.

Worst case scenario is I lose my $275 and waste some time. I’m willing to bet though that I can either a) make it profitable, or b) learn something worth $275 in the process of trying to make it profitable

Either way I’m a winner. So stick with me and see what happens to the wee little bonsai site in the grand haystack we call the world wide web.
